About Us

The Alabama Athletic Commission (AAC) is the sole regulatory, sanctioning, and licensing authority for professional boxing, professional and amateur mixed martial arts, professional wrestling, and Toughman within the State of Alabama. Established by the Alabama Legislature in 2009, the AAC was originally named the Alabama Boxing Commission. The AAC has since been renamed with the addition of professional and amateur mixed martial arts, professional wrestling, and Toughman contests to the Commission’s governance.

The AAC is comprised of six (6) appointees from around the state. Commissioners are appointed by the Governor (2), Lt. Governor (1), Speaker of the House (1), Pro Tempore of the Senate (1), or Athlete Agents Commission (1).
